Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
This page explains what information StudyBH handles and why. We try to collect as little as we need to run the site.
What we collect
- Account details. When you sign up we receive your email address and, if you use Google sign-in, your Google account name and email. We also store the username you choose, which other students can see next to your files and reviews.
- What you add. Files you upload, their titles, descriptions and the course you assign them to, plus ratings, reviews and reports you write.
- Study activity. Favourites, reading position in PDFs, annotations, study timer settings and similar progress. Some of this is stored on your device, and some is saved to your account so it follows you.
- Usage information. Basic page and file views, how long a page was open, approximate device type and country or time zone, used to see what students find useful and to keep the site working. We do not sell this and do not build advertising profiles ourselves.
- Reports. If you send a report, we keep the name, email, optional phone number and details you type so we can respond.
How we use it
To run your account, show your files to others, keep the library organised, prevent abuse, review reported content, improve the site, and answer you. We do not use your files for anything other than running StudyBH.
Who we share it with
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores accounts, the library data and uploaded files.
- Google provides sign-in if you choose it and, if enabled, advertising (see below).
- Study aids. Text from files may be read by an admin, or processed by an AI assistant used by an admin, to write summaries, flashcards and quizzes.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
We do not sell personal information.
Cookies, local storage and advertising
The site stores preferences and progress in your browser (for example your language, theme, favourites, and your consent choice). If advertising is switched on, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technology to show and measure ads, and may show ads based on your interests. Ads load only after you accept in the consent banner, and you can change your choice at any time with the "Ad choices" button. You can also manage Google's ad settings at adssettings.google.com and see how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
Children
Many users are students under 18. We do not ask for phone numbers, home addresses or ID numbers and ask you not to share them. If you are under 18, please use the site with a parent or guardian's knowledge.
How long we keep it
Account data and files stay until you or an admin delete them or you ask us to remove your data. Usage information is kept for a limited period for statistics. Backups are replaced on a regular schedule.
Your choices
- Delete your own files and reviews from your library at any time.
- Clear your browser's site data to remove what is stored on your device.
- Ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your data with the privacy request form. We will reply to the email you give.
Security
Connections use HTTPS, and permissions in the database limit who can read or change data. No online service is perfectly secure, so please choose a strong password and do not upload anything you would not want a classmate to see.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change.
